Over 3,500 delegates join Virtual Perspectives 2022

World-renowned speakers share latest thinking in contact lens science and education at virtual event, powered by CooperVision

FAREHAM, United Kingdom, 7th  February 2022 — some of the world’s most respected thought leaders in the optical industry were joined by over 3,500 delegates on Sunday 6th February for Virtual Perspectives 2022 — a one-day online conference that focused on the latest thinking and trends in contact lens science and education.

Virtual Perspectives 2022 — part of CooperVision’s International Seminar Series, which traditionally holds thought leadership events in locations across the EMEA region—allowed eye care professionals from over 70 countries to join a number of keynote speakers who shared their perspectives across a range of topics under the theme of ‘Shaping the future of contact lenses, together’.

Professor Nathan Efron and Karen Walsh focused on how to maximize contact lens wearer satisfaction, and sustainability was high on the agenda with a presentation from Sarah Smith who looked at managing waste and the contact lens lifecycle. Myopia management was also in the spotlight, with four hours of myopia content including; myopia management communication; lessons from the International Myopia Institute; and the release of the seven-year clinical study results of MiSight® 1 day from Professor Nicola Logan, which was followed by a panel discussion that delved deeper into how the results could be used in practice.

Alongside the virtual main stage sessions, delegates were able to visit the Science Expo and browse 39 scientific posters and papers. Delegates also had the opportunity to visit a Discussion Lounge where they could interact with CooperVision representatives and ask specific questions relating to the company’s product range and services.

David Webley, Senior Manager of Professional Services EMEA at CooperVision, commented: “With traditional conferences and events continuing to be postponed, our ambition for Virtual Perspectives 2022 was to once again bring the thoughts of world-leading speakers to eye care professionals across the region. We were delighted with our first-class line up of contributors, which made for a fascinating and insightful series of presentations throughout the day. The attendee numbers were outstanding, and we hope that delegates benefited from the sessions and took away lots of ideas that they can use in everyday practice.”
